Lawsuit Makes It Official: Time Warner Cable ISP Can’t Deliver

Feb 2, 2017 11:38:23 AM

Yesterday the New York attorney general filed a lawsuit against Charter Communications, alleging that the cable internet provider failed to deliver on promised internet speeds and reliability. Connecticut-based Charter’s subsidiary, Spectrum, was previously known as Time Warner Cable.

The fact that New York’s local cable company is providing customers with slow broadband speeds and unreliable service will not shock the millions of New Yorkers who are suffering. Many businesses in the city have no other options for internet other than cable.

The lawsuit claims the company failed to address network problems that led to slower-than-promised speeds and is seeking compensation for customers.

This was not surprising to us at Skywire Networks. So many of our customers are leaving Time Warner Cable for exactly the reasons listed in the lawsuit. There was even a time last May when customers had no service at all, when Time Warner suffered an outage that lasted for hours.

Cable simply cannot deliver the superfast, symmetrical internet speeds that modern businesses need today. Business owners in New York City have recently been given more choice when it comes to high-speed broadband providers.

Skywire Networks is one of New York City’s largest regional, independent telecommunications companies and one of the few dedicated to delivering lightning fast broadband to businesses operating in parts of our city only served by cable ISPs. Skywire Networks is solely focused on customers in historically underserved areas of Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Manhattan (Long Island City, Greenpoint, Williamsburg, SOHO, Tribeca, Flatiron District, Chelsea and the South Bronx) that previously only had access to low-quality cable and copper infrastructure.

Skywire Networks are experts in New York City’s small- to medium-sized business community. They have more than 26,000 local customers, and their service centers, technicians, and headquarters are in Brooklyn. The ISP provider offers internet speeds from 10 Mbps to 1 Gbps, and packages can also be bundled with hosted voice services.

If you are suffering with your current ISP, please reach out today to see if Skywire can service your building.
